Emergency Department / Urgent Cardiac Care
Will my health insurance cover the costs of Mater Private Emergency Department / Urgent Cardiac Care visit?
Most health insurance plans will cover part or all of the costs of your visit to our Emergency Department (ED) or Urgent Cardiac Care (UCC). If payment is required on the day, you have the option to submit a claim to your insurer for reimbursement. The amount reimbursed depends on your insurance plan but in many cases, it is up to 50% and for some plans is 100%.
If you don't have private health insurance, you can still attend the ED or UCC on a "self-pay" basis, i.e. you pay the full cost yourself. This also applies to patients whose insurance plan doesn't include cover for Mater Private Network.
Many patients can go home on the same day, but if you need to be admitted for treatment, we will discuss your insurance cover and treatment costs with you.
